Retreat FAQ

Travel & Arrival

How do I get to the retreat center?

The closest airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), approximately a 2½-hour drive from Sedona Mago Retreat.

We recommend booking Groome Transportation, which offers scheduled shuttle service directly from Phoenix Sky Harbor to Sedona Mago's Welcome Center. Shuttle reservations should be made in advance once your flights are confirmed. Private transportation services are also available if you prefer a direct transfer.

If you choose to rent a car, please note that the final stretch of road leading to the retreat center is unpaved.

Can I fly in on the day the retreat begins?

Yes. We will provide a recommended arrival window that allows plenty of time to travel from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to the retreat center before our opening gathering.

If your schedule allows, arriving in Sedona a day early can also be a wonderful opportunity to explore the area before settling into retreat. It is certainly not required, though. Once we arrive at Mago, our hope is to shift into a slower rhythm and allow ourselves to really be there.

Should I rent a car?

A rental car is completely optional.

Many guests choose to shuttle directly from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and remain on the retreat property throughout their stay. Sedona Mago offers beautiful grounds, walking trails, and plenty of space to rest and explore, and we've intentionally designed the retreat to allow you to settle in rather than feel like you need to be going somewhere each day.

If having the flexibility to explore Sedona independently is important to you, renting a car may be worthwhile.

Can I go into town?

Yes. Downtown Sedona is approximately 35–40 minutes from the retreat center, and you are welcome to explore independently during free time.

The intention of our time together is to create some space away from the usual pace of daily life—to practice, rest, spend time in nature, and hopefully return home feeling refreshed rather than needing a vacation from your vacation.

We are planning an optional excursion to one of Sedona’s iconic vortex sites, giving you an opportunity to experience the red rocks beyond the retreat center without needing to plan an outing yourself.

What is the weather like in April?

April is one of the most beautiful times to visit Sedona.

Expect warm, sunny days with cooler mornings and evenings. Temperatures can vary considerably throughout the day, so we recommend bringing layers, along with comfortable hiking shoes, sun protection, and a reusable water bottle.

Your Stay at Sedona Mago

What are the rooms like?

Sedona Mago Retreat offers both private and shared accommodations in a peaceful setting immersed in nature.

Private rooms provide additional solitude, while shared accommodations offer the opportunity to connect with another retreat participant. Roommate requests are welcome if you’re traveling with a friend or partner.

Each room includes comfortable beds, linens, towels, a private bathroom, and basic bath amenities.

What kind of meals are included?

All meals are included, beginning with dinner on our arrival day and continuing through lunch on our departure day.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily at the retreat center. Meals are nourishing and plant-based, and dietary requirements can be communicated to the retreat center in advance.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?

No. Sedona Mago has yoga mats, bolsters, and zafus available for our group, so you don’t need to travel with a mat unless you prefer practicing on your own.

What should I pack?

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable yoga and meditation clothing

  • Layers for cool mornings and evenings

  • A light jacket or sweatshirt

  • Comfortable hiking shoes or sneakers

  • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Journal and pen

  • Personal toiletries and medications

  • Your yoga mat, if you prefer using your own

A more detailed packing list will be sent as we get closer to the retreat.

Is there Wi-Fi and cell service?

Wi-Fi is available in designated areas of the retreat center, while cell service can be limited.

We encourage you to embrace this as an opportunity to unplug from some of the distractions of everyday life and be more present with yourself, your practice, and the natural surroundings.

Is there a store on site?

Yes. Sedona Mago has a small gift shop where you can purchase snacks, beverages, gifts, and a selection of basic necessities.

Retreat Policies

Is alcohol permitted at the retreat?

No. Sedona Mago Retreat Center does not permit alcohol on the property.

We invite you to embrace this time as an opportunity to step away from everyday routines and fully immerse yourself in the retreat environment.

Can my spouse or partner come if they are not participating in the retreat?

All retreat attendees are required to stay on-site at Sedona Mago, and our accommodations are reserved for registered retreat participants.

If your spouse or partner would like to experience the retreat with you, they are warmly welcome to register as a participant.
